In August 2022 a 7kW Type 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Point was installed at Varis for guest use. The Zappi charger links to an App so that we, as owners, can remotely switch the controller on or off and see what has been consumed.
Guests will be charged for the electricity used at cost. We’ve recently switched our electricity supplier to Good Energy, one of the few suppliers who match every kWh supplied with renewables generation. Until May 2027, the rate per kWh will be 22.8p. I know that is higher than EV rates but it’s significantly lower than commercial chargers and you have no restriction on when you can plug in, Of course, if you plug in while the sun shines, you can get free charging (between 1.4kW and 3.7kW).
