In August 2022 a 7kW Type 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Point was installed at Varis for guest use. The Zappi charger links to an App so that we, as owners, can remotely switch the controller on or off and see what has been consumed.
Guests will be charged for the electricity used at cost. We’ve recently switched our electricity supplier to Good Energy, one of the few suppliers who match every kWh supplied with renewables generation. We are using their HP tariff. It’s a bit complicated but

9am to 1pm 30.17p kWh
1pm to 4pm 13p kWh
4pm to 5am 30.17p kWh
We hope, this new regime helps our EV guests and we think it will do so while being cost neutral for us. Guests will need to set the charging period on their vehicle and obviously if 4 hours at 7kWh isn’t enough,, part of the charge may be at 30.17p not just 13p.
We will charge a modest daily deposit to enable the charger with prompt settling up at the end of stays. We’ll waive this deposit for our regular guests.
