We refunded or postponed 2020 bookings that weren’t able to go ahead and did the same for March, and April bookings in 2021. We believe its in no-one interests for you to travel if you are unwell with Coronavirus or anything else, so talk to us ASAP if there is an issue. You may wish to take out travel insurance which is now available, including coronavirus cover.
The Scottish Government has retained the requirement to wear masks in enclosed public spaces and advise wearing these in crowded places. Please be mindful that some people aren’t vaccinated and some may be nervous of crowds so give people space.
Please bring hand sanitiser and face coverings with you and use in enclosed public places and outdoor places where social distancing might be difficult.
Our ‘Covid-19 secure’ cleaning regime
We’ve taken careful advice from the Scottish Government and our professional body, the Association of Scottish Self Caterers and keep this under review. Our arrangements have been certified under the national Good to Go scheme.
We are using a range of viricidal, commercial-grade disinfectants (70% alcohol or sodium percarbonate) compatible with our septic tank. We take extra care of high-touch surface areas, from door handles and light switches to kettles and toasters. We also ensure the cleanliness of upholstery, including armchairs and curtains. Bed linen and towels will be washed to the highest standards and in accordance with the latest virus-control procedures.
We have always provided eco friendly cleaning products and guests are welcome to use these freely.
Arrival has always been a contact-free experience. Guests are welcome to arrive anytime from 5pm on the arrival day, while departure is by 10am on the final day. Between 10am and 5pm, Elizabeth, our housekeeper will work to clean the property. Guests and housekeepers do not meet. We ask guests to strictly adhere to departure and arrival times. Keys are collected onsite and we carefully disinfect them.
To make cleaning easier, we have removed some decorative items. All kitchenware and crockery will be clean. We encourage guests to use the dishwasher to sanitise items rather than handwashing and you may find cutlery, mugs, glasses drying in the dishwasher.
Varis has a selection of board games and local information leaflets. We are keeping these available and ask guests to wash their hands before and hands after use. Similarly books. Important information about the property is presented in plastic folders which we also swap between groups.
To help with our efforts to protect everyone, we ask guests to strip their beds and put out rubbish from all bins at the end of a stay, with easy arrangements in place.
We will update the information above as changes are made but believe this represents best practice as of 21st March 2022. If you have any questions, please do just ask.
